Lilly has been on all fours for such a long time- we have pictures of her rocking on all fours at 7 months. Her friends at school do circles around her and they are a few months younger- but her time has come- tonight she did not just scooch, she did not just go backwards, or sideways or in circles. She went across the rug!! Yes we did bribe her. The funniest thing is that we have been waiting for this- and now we are in for trouble.

Wedding Dress Shopping with "Aunt Devon"
Today, we had a chance to go wedding dress shopping with Devon. It was so much fun!
Lilly was trying to figure out what dress was best for Devon- she definitely thought the "puffier" the better! "More sparkle" Lilly yelled!
Oh, yes she even loved hanging out with "Grandma Gretchen!"

Janie visits Lilly in Seattle!
We had a wonderful opportunity to have one of my dearest friends from Colby come visit- Meg and her daughter, my god-daughter, Janie. It was a wonderful weekend filled with searching for the Baboons at the Zoo, strolling through the sculpture park, trowing rocks at the beach, and even a chance for the mom's to get away for a run. It is our turn to head out to Boston! The Girls down on Alki- it was a cold morning. 
At the Zoo- This was Lilly's first visit to the zoo. Thanks to Nanna and Grandpa we are now members, so we can go all the time.
Lilly slept through the second half of the zoo.
We really hope they come back soon. . . with Ellie and John!

The Decision Was Made
I am surprised Lilly's first word was not "Viaduct"! Yes- it is probably the most common word that I say from 8 am -5 pm every day. If you are not from Seattle or if you are from Seattle just not in touch with any news, the Alaskan Way Viaduct is a major highway that flows through downtown Seattle along the waterfront. I have been working on this project for over two years, but it has monopolized "our" lives ever since I went back from maternity leave in August - long days, night meetings, politics, and much much more. But, this week a decision was made- a Deep Bored Tunnel with replace the crumbling structure.
Even though it is the most expensive option and we are in a recession, the Governor, King County Executive, and Mayor think that is ok. Me- I have mixed feelings, but I am glad that after 8 plus years of deliberating they made a decision. And, you know who is most excited ChrisO. We just had to document this for Lilly to see later in her life as she looks back on this blog.
You can see this historic freeway in this picture. So you may not think this is a milestone for Lilly, but we just want to document that Lilly will be able to read before this structure is replaced. This was only the decision - there is a long path to go.

Santa Finally Comes to West Seattle
As many know (and lived through), Seattle had a white Christmas! That was pretty neat, although Santa's elves, disguised in brown uniforms driving brown trucks, has a pretty rough go of it getting around town helping Santa with his deliveries. Lilly's gifts didn't arrive until January 2nd, although I guess we can get away with it this year! When they finally came, Lilly had a great time playing.

Holliday Catch up!
So we had the most wonderful break. Lilly was out of school for almost two weeks with the snow days, Yakima Christmas, and then Sun River skiing. The best thing was that she was even excited the day she went back to school- it made us feel really good about her care. So we have some fun pictures that we wanted to post because this is the baby book for the 21st century. So just to keep up to speed. . . here we go.
We had a great time in Yakima- all the O'Claire's were there for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The roads were so bad from the snow was so bad on the 24th that it may have taken us an hour to leave Seattle. Four plus hour later (for a regular two hour trip) we showed up- right in time for church. Santa did not quite make it due snow storm - UPS could not deliver. No worries as you see from a previous post- we did a later Christmas with santa. 
Lilly is here with her cousin Jack! She does not move quite as fast has him!
Then we headed down to Sun River for a bit of skiing with the Einstein clan. What a blast- ChrisO became a skiier and had a blast doing it. Great snow, but quite windy. We took turns babysitting. The cousins had a great time - we are convinced that Lilly now says "Emma". Of course that is due the the fact that Emma just loves Lilly. "Lilly, Lilly say Emma, Emma, Emma".
Note that Lilly has learned "So Big" from her Nanna! Check it out in the picture. Yes she loves doing it. "How big is Lilly?" and then she throws her hands up "So big". 
Uncle Brooks- the God Father. I think I see a resemblance? Or is it just the size similarities?
2008 was an amazing year- we both said how wonderful it was to have such a happy, healthy baby.
